Sew,Mama,Sew está dedicando mês de junho às adoráveis e queridas máquinas de costuras que nos acomapanham em nossas aventuras artesanais. Eles montaram um
questionário para falarmos de nossas máquinas e depois de ver alguns por aí na web, estou tentando a minha versão.
Sew,Mama,Sew blog is dedicating the month of June to the lovely sewing machines that are our faithful companions in our craft adventures. They have a meme to so we can talk about our machines and after I saw some answeres around the web, I decided to try my version of it.
> Qual a marca e modelo que você tem? / What brand and model do you have?
- Elgin FA 1100.
> Há quanto tempo tem essa máquina? / How long have you had it?
- Desde 1998. / Since 1998.
> Quanto custa essa máquina (aproximadamente)? / How much does that machine cost (approximately)?
- Não existe mais o meu modelo, o mais próximo está uns 400 reais. /
There aren't the same model avaiable anymore. The closest to it costs around US$ 205
.
> Que tipo de coisas costura nela (p.ex. quilt, roupas, bolsas, etc.)? / What types of things do you sew (i.e. quilting, clothing, handbags, home dec projects, etc.)?
- Meu primeiro interesse: patchwork, e agora ando experimentando roupas, bolsas, me expandindo. / My first interest: patchwork/quilting, but nowadays I'm trying to expand my targets. I already tryed some bags and clothes.
> Quanto você costura? Quanto uso a máquina tem? / How much do you sew? How much wear and tear does the machine get?
- Até o final do ano passado, eu estava costurando cerca de 15 a 20 horas por semana. Desde o começo do ano os planos mudaram um pouco, então a máquina está meio parada. / Until the end of last year, I was sewing 15 to 20 hours a week. But since the begining of this year my plans changed a bit, so the machine is getting a lot of rest.
> Você gosta/ama/odeia sua máquina? Tem sentimentos ambivalentes? Apaixonada? Ela tem nome? / Do you like/love/hate your machine? Are you ambivalent? Passionate? Does she have a name?
- Eu gosto da minha máquina. Não tenho paixão, ou sentimentos mais fortes. Ela me é fiel, funciona muito bem e dá conta de muita coisa. Mas não sou muito apegada não. E não sou muito de dar nomes às coisas, normalmente acrescento apenas um "dona/doutor" na frente do nome. Neste caso, Dona Elgin. / I like my machine, but I'm not passionate about it. She's faithful and works really well, doing more than enough but I'm not to attach to it. I usually don't give name to things, I like to just put a "Miss/Mrs./Mr." in front of the name. So, she's Miss Elgin.
> Quais as caracteristicas que sua máquina tem que funcionam bem para você? / What features does your machine have that work well for you?
- Minha máquina é bem básica. Acho que ela funciona bem porque eu ainda trabalho no nível básico. Só tem ponto reto e zig-zag e pé de zíper. Eu melhorando na costura vou querer melhorar a máquina também. / My sewing machine is quite basics but works for me because I'm still working on the basics. She's just straight and zig-zag stiches plus a ziper foot. When I get better at sewing I'll want a better machine.
> Tem algo que te incomada muito na sua máquina? / Is there anything that drives you nuts about your machine?
- Como às vezes não consigo acertar a tensão do ponto, não importa o que eu faça e aí enrola toda a linha quando começo a costurar. / Sometimes I just can't get the tension right and then the thread gets all bundle up when I start to sew.
> Você tem uma boa história para contar da sua máquina (p.ex. como ela foi um presente de Natal ou algo assim)? / Do you have a great story to share about your machine (i.e., Found it under the Christmas tree)?
- Nada. Comprei a máquina quase nova, meio de impulso e ela ficou parada bastante tempo antes d'eu pegar o ritmo. / Nothing. I bought it almost new in an impulse buy and she stayed put for a long time before I got the mood to use it.
>Deixou cair no chão da cozinha? Costurou o zíper no dedo? A ganhou da vovó? Queremos ouvir sua hístória! / Dropped it on the kitchen floor? Sewed your fingernail to your zipper? Got it from your Great Grandma?, etc.!)? We want to hear it!
- Como já disse, a vida da minha máquina sempre foi muito pacífica. Acho que a maior aventura foi no final do ano passado, quando eu estava costurando loucamente para uma feira e consegui quebrar 4 (quatro!) agulhas seguindas tentando costurar luvas de cozinha. / Like I said, the life of my machine is quite pacific. It's biggest adventure should have happened at the end of last year when I was sewing like crazy because of a fair and then I manage to broke 4 (four!) needles one after the other while trying to sew some kitchen gloves.
> Recomendaria essa máquina para outros? Por quê? / Would you recommend the machine to others? Why?
- Sim, recomendaria. Seja esse mesmo modelo, usada mesmo, ou outro da mesma marca. É uma máquina confiável e robusta para iniciantes, e há bastante espaço de manobra com ela. / Yes, I would recommend it. This same model, even an used one, or another from the same brand. It's a trusted and strong machine for beginners and you can go a long way with it.
> Que fatores são importantes considerar quando se procurar por uma nova máquina? / What factors do you think are important to consider when looking for a new machine?
- Primeiro, o que você deseja fazer/costurar. Ver se a máquina tem todas as opções que você considera importantes e que extras ela oferece. Poder dar uma experimentadinha também seria bem legal. Às vezes achamos algo lindo mas quando experimentamos não se ajusta a nós tão bem. / First, what you want to do/sew on it. Then see if the machine have all the options you need/think it's important and what extras there might be. Maybe try it on a bit. Sometimes you see something you think it's great but when you try it or put it on doesn't work so great.
> Você sonha com alguma máquina? / Do you have a dream machine?

Singer 7469Q Confidence Quilter Sewing Machine. Pelo que pude ver, parece ter tudo o que eu gostaria e muito espaço para experimentar. /
I haven't been looking for anything but for what I saw around or heard about, the machine that would interest me should be the Singer 7469Q Confidence Quilter Sewing Machine. It seems to have everything I should need and lots of space to try things one.
