Segunda, 09 de Junho / Monday, June 8th

Nada de títulos espertos hoje (será que alguma vez são espertos?!), mas o fim de semana foi produtivo/positivo. Finalmente consegui me encontrar com a turma de amigos. Desde o inicio do ano nos falamos, especialmente por email, mas sempre tem algum problema para nos encontrarmos pessoalmente. Este sábado foi pra jogar conversa fora e se divertir muito com o Wii Fit. Esse tá na minha lista de desejos.

No smart titles today (they were ever smart?!), but it was a positive/productive weekend. I finally meet my friends to talk shop this Saturday. Since the begining of the year we exchange a lot of emails and even phone calls but we were having major problems to meet in person. So this Saturday we managed it, it was quite fun, specially playing with Wii Fit. This one is on my wish list.

Andei com o cachecol do Bruno, ando tricotando sempre que posso e estou parada/sentada. Diria que estou em certa de 65% dele. Vou terminar até o final do mês! Espero! :P

I knitted away Bruno's scarf. I'm using any moment I have to work on it and I think I did around 65% of it already. I'll finish it by the end of the month! I hope! :P

Queria era registrar algo que assisti esse domingo e achei o máximo. Eu conhecia um antigo programa de se cadastrar micros para ajudar na pesquisa de espaço profundo, a chamada "busca por ets" e cheguei a partcipar nos primórdios da minha assinatura de internet. Mas o programa Cidades e Soluções, da Globonews, mostrou um projeto para doarmos o tempo ocioso dos nossos micros para ajudar nos cálculos necessários para pesquisas médicas. Achei o máximo! Não sou estou inscrevendo meu micro caseiro nessa World Community Grid (Grade Comunitária Mundial) como vou fazer uma campanha para ver se meu local de trabalho também adere. Os dados e informações indicam a maior segurança e nada de interferência quando você está usando o micro, segundo o blogueiro do Eu Grido. É desse tipo de projetos e notícias que sinto falta. Já tem tanta tristeza e maldade por aí que algo assim pode parecer pouco mas prova como estamos todos conectados e como cada pequeno gesto pode ajudar a mudar os resultados no final.

I would like to talk about something I watched this Sunday and I thought it was great. I knew about an old program to help to search space using the help of home computers, the "search for et" programa. I was part of it as soon as I had access to internet, about 15 years ago. But I watched a show on the news channel Globonews called City and Solutions (Cidade e Soluções) and they showed a project that uses idle computers to help in medical researches. I thought it was great! I'm not only inscribing my home computer at World Community Grid but I'll also campaign at my work to put the companies computers working for it to. They say there's no risk for the computers involved and you can check it out at the si where there are forums and even a friendly competition to see which group donates more computer time. It's this kind of project that we need to see and hear about more. There's so much sadness and evil around that when yopu find something like that you are reminded how a small and simple gesture can change the outcome.
